Carbon Forum Asia 2012 Side Event in Bangkok, Thailand

Japan’s supporting programme for NAMAs and BOCM in Asian countries

 

On October 31, 2012, the side event titled “Japan’s supporting programme for NAMAs and BOCM in Asian countries” took place at the Carbon Forum Asia 2012, Bangkok, Thailand. This side event was co-hosted by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC).

 

The Side Event introduced most updated information on capacity building activities for Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (BOCM) in Asian countries by IGES and capacity building activities for Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in Vietnam, Mongolia, Lao PDR and Cambodia by OECC.

 

The Event was attended by more than 30 experts including private companies, consultants, development cooperation practitioners as well as researchers. During question and answer session, there are several questions and comments on current status of Asian countries’ NAMAs, relationship among CDM, BOCM and other mitigation actions in developing countries, and expressing interests in Japan’s supporting actions on BOCM and NAMAs etc.
