Myanmar: Introduction of Waste to Energy Plant in Yangon City [JFE Engineering Corporation]

Opening ceremony for the waste to energy plant in Yangon city constructed by JFE Engineering Corporation was held on April 7th.
Dignitaries from Yangon city and the Government of Japan also participated in the ceremony and celebrated the plant’s completion. Participants also commented about their expectations that the waste to energy technology will be disseminated in Myanmar.
This project is the first waste to energy project in Myanmar selected as JCM Model Project by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan. This project will reduce CH4(methane) and CO2 emissions through operation of the waste to energy plant in Myanmar. It is also expected to generate credits under the JCM which will be used to achieve Japan’s GHG emission reduction target.
