Press Conference on the Completion of Draft JCM Methodology for AWD in the Philippines (June 28th)

2024.06.21

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the government of Japan (MAFF) has contributed funds to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) since FY2023 to establish a methodology for reducing methane emissions from rice paddy fields in the Philippines and Viet Nam using the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM).

Finally, a draft JCM methodology of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in the Philippines is going to be announced on June 25th.

This draft would be the first JCM methodology in the agricultural sector if approved by the JCM Joint Committee (JC) of Japan and the Philippines.

Furthermore, if private projects based on the methodology are registered and issued credits by the JC, this will be the world first JCM credits in the agricultural sector.

MAFF will hold a press conference on June 28th at 15:00 to announce the completion of the draft as follows.
