Mongolia: Installation of Solar Power Plant for Power Supply in Ulaanbaatar Suburb [Farmdo Co., Ltd.]
2017.08.08
A solar farm project which combines agriculture and solar power generation is ongoing in a suburb of Ulaanbaatar. Two Solar power plants (2.1MW and 8.3MW) will be constructed in two phases at the 28ha farm which will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and air pollution. Furthermore, cultivation of high-quality vegetables is being planned in the area where solar panels are set up in order to supply the vegetables to the city center in the future. Currently, demonstration of advanced Japanese agriculture is also being implemented.
The project has been selected as a JCM model project by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan and a part of the project will be financed by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for the first time among JCM projects. This finance is provided through a finance facility established by the JBIC with an aim to promote overseas deployment of Japanese companies.
